What is the new Downtown Business District trash cart collection program?
Metro collects trash six nights a week from the downtown area. Much of this trash is presently in bags sitting on our sidewalks. These bags are often filled to the point where it cannot be lifted without breaking. By placing the trash in carts and mechanically lifting the contents of the cart into the truck, Metro workers will not be injured as much; the trash will be contained; rodents and other animals will not get into the trash.

What the Downtown Business District trash carts look like?

The carts are light grey 96 gallon containers with a lid and wheels.
