DEADERICK STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Metro Public Works has initiated planning for a project to update pedestrian amenities and make other improvements along Deaderick Street between 6th Avenue and 3rd Avenue in downtown Nashville.

The objective of this effort is to transform Deaderick Street into a more appealing and functional avenue for the benefit of all downtown pedestrians, while ensuring efficient traffic flow for motorists.  The streetscape project is scheduled to begin in October 2008 following the opening of MTA’s new Music City Central transit station at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Charlotte.

A stakeholders meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, at 12 noon at the Nashville Civic Design Center, 138 2nd Avenue North.  This initial meeting will provide the opportunity to meet the design team and offer input on planned improvements along Deaderick Street.

Future public meetings are planned to allow citizens and other interested stakeholders the opportunity to participate in the redesign of this prominent downtown corridor.  Pertinent information and details will also be posted on this website as the project proceeds.
