Earn the Fishy Junior Naturalist Patch in 2010!

fishLearn more about fish and our Nashville waterways to earn the Junior Naturalist patch and certificate this year. Youth ages 6-12 can attend programs focusing on fish anatomy, habitat, diversity, and recreation at any Metro Parks Nature Center, and will have the opportunity to meet a snub-nosed darter, channel catfish, sunfish, and maybe even a sturgeon! The Junior Naturalist program encourages youth to learn about fish through Nature Study, Nature Exploration, and Nature Reflection. This year’s kickoff will take place on Tuesday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to Noon during Metro Schools’ Spring Break! Hey, kids!  If you’re between the ages of 6 and 12, you can become a Warner Parks Jr. Naturalist!  Just follow the directions in the Jr. Naturalist Brochure and you can earn the 2010 Patch and Certificate. Please keep a folder of all of your work and write your name on everything you turn in, such as writings or drawings.  We may even post some of your work on our website!

Helpful Hints: The Warner Park Nature Center Library has many books and other resources to help you become a Junior Naturalist.  Other materials can be found in the Jr. Naturalist resource box, which in located in the Learning Center.  Just ask for it!
To receive your Junior Naturalist patch and certificate, call the Nature Center at 352-6299 and set up an appointment with a naturalist after you have completed all of the requirements.  All activities should be completed by December 31, 2010.
