NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) staff, along with members of the volunteer Emergency Support Unit (ESU), have been dispatched to the Francis Street/Whites Creek Pike area to provide emergency assistance to residents without power.  Nashville Electric Service estimates approximately 80 customers are without power due to equipment failure of a transformer that serves this area.

Due to extreme heat and a large population of elderly residents in the area, OEM’s crews will be conducting health and welfare checks and providing much needed relief from the heat in the form of bottled water and a cooling bus.  The Red Cross has also been activated and will be responding with their Emergency Response Vehicle.

Emergency workers will be staging at Haynes Middle School, 510 West Trinity Lane.
