Disaster Medical Committee
The Disaster Medical Committee of the Emergency Management Council is very active and was actually a predecessor to the council. This group was instrumental in promoting the need for the creation of OEM, which occurred in January 1992. They have continued to take a lead in promoting disaster preparedness activities in the health care community. Some of their activities to date include:
- Development of a victim tracking system that is implemented throughout all hospitals when activated
- Emergency notification system to all hospital coordinators
- Mutual Aid agreements between hospitals
- Annual communitywide disaster exercises with 100% participation
- Hospital/bed status reporting system
- Participation in the Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS)
