Mayor's budget hearings set to begin March 14

Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell will begin department budget hearings with the Finance Department, as he puts together a budget proposal for the 2006-2007 fiscal year.
This year budget hearings will be in the Media Conference Room of the Historic Courthouse at the Public Square. The hearings will be held 8—11 am on Wednesday, March 14 and resume at 9:30 am on Friday, March 16 and continue throughout the day.
During the hearings, Purcell will review budget recommendations with department directors and boards and commissions members. The public is invited to attend the hearings. The hearings will be broadcast on Metro 3, the government access cable channel.
Purcell will submit his budget to the Metro Council on March 23. The Council is expected to complete action on the budget before the new fiscal year begins on July 1.
