Tennessee Titans to visit Metro Action’s Head Start Program

Nashville—As the National Week of the Young Child comes to a close, a few members of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans will stop by one of the Metropolitan Action Commission’s Head Start centers to celebrate with the children on Thursday (April 26) at 11 a.m.

Ben Troupe (Tight End), Randy Stark (Defensive Tackle) and Marcus White (Defensive Tackle) will read to the children enrolled at the Susan Gray Head Start center in southeast Nashville.

“We are excited about the Titans visiting Head Start,” said Pamela Matthews, Metropolitan Action Commission Head Start Director.

“Early exposure to reading helps strengthen literacy skills and is a great example of the intent of the Week of the Young Child, which is to increase awareness of the importance of early education among preschoolers.”

The Head Start program provides early childhood education for children (ages 3 and 4 years old) from low income families.  Metro Action has 1,485 children enrolled in 8 centers and 3 partner sites throughout the city, making it the largest early childhood provider in Davidson County.  Susan Gray Head Start has 220 children enrolled at the site.

Week of the Young Child is celebrated nationally by early childhood programs.
