Community Services Assistance Services

*Applicants must live within Davidson County

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Assistance to low income households and renters (Help with payments for gas, electric, propane or other energy source)

Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Program

Emergency Assistance
Assistance to customers that have loss of home, living arrangements, income or other financial resources (Help with Mortgage, Rent Water Prescriptions, Special Diet food, Delinquent Property Taxes)
Homeless Program
This program provides assistance with rent, electric and water deposits to individuals that have secured housing after being homeless or staying with relatives or friends due to some unforeseen financial circumstance.
Housing Services
Provide emergency residential repairs and HVAC (heating and cooling units) installations for elderly (65 years or older) or disabled indigent. Repairs are completed by registered Metro Contractors. Clients must meet the 130% Poverty Guideline.

Adult Education (GED)

The Adult Education program offers free classroom basic skills instruction in Reading, Language, Science and Mathematics to prepare you for the GED exam and obtaining the GED Diploma.  Customers must be a residence of Nashville Davidson County and are required to meet income guidelines to be enrolled in the program.  You must be 17 years of age or older.  A waiver is required from Metro Schools for 17 and 18 year olds customers.

General Assistance
Loss of income due to illness, involuntary work hour reduction within the past 30-60 days, layoff or other unexpected crisis (Assistance with Rent, Mortgage, Water, and Delinquent Property Tax). More Information

Hardship Assistance Involuntary Financial Crisis that does not meet the General Assistance Criteria or Income Guideline but are within 185% Poverty Guideline (Assistance with Rent, Mortgage, Water, and Delinquent Property Taxes)
Senior Services
Any senior citizen age 65 years and older that meet the 130% poverty guideline could be eligible to receive assistance with mortgage, rent, water and delinquent property tax assistance. This program also provides assistance with prescriptions and special diet foods prescribed by a medical doctor.
