Project in the Spotlight

From time to time, the ADA Compliance Division calls attention to projects that may provide guidance or examples concerning ADA issues faced by others.

The current project in the spotlight is Phase One of Metro's beautiful new Beaman Park. Officially opened in March 2005, the park spreads over an area of 1,500 acres of land in northwest Nashville/Davidson County that, for the most part, has been left in its natural wild state. Elements installed near the entrance of the park, however, have been designed and constructed to the standards of the ADA, including the paths near the entrance, the upper and lower parking lots, upper and lower pedestrian loops, picnic areas, and the scenic overlooks and plazas.

Additional elements planned for the not-too-distant future include a nature center and restroom facilities, which will also conform to the standards of the ADA.
