Anyone interested is welcome to get involved in the Commission's various working committees, including Fundraising, Planning & Development, Special Events, and Bikeway Advisory. The committees are where a lot of the hands-on work gets done and (usually) where a lot of fun is had.
The Fundraising Committee focuses on funding sources - public, private, and non-profit -- for land acquisition and greenway development. Some of this committee's activities may merge with those of the Special Events Committee.

The Planning and Development Committee looks at potential greenway sites, monitors the progress of development, and integrates greenways into other planning and development processes - public and private - throughout the county. P&D has frequent field trips.

The Special Events Committee organizes GFN membership activities like parties or hikes, volunteer days or ground-breakings. In the future, we'll also plan grand openings, runs and other activities.
There are also citizen groups which have formed to support specific greenway projects. These groups include the Friends of Beaman Park, The Richland Creek Greenway Steering Committee, and the Bordeaux/Whites Creek Greenway Alliance. For information on joining any of these groups, contact the Greenways Commission staff.

Of course, the easiest way to get involved with greenways is by becoming a member of Greenways for Nashville. Contact GFN coordinator Jane Laub for membership information.
