If you are paying your citation, the compliance date is the 45th calendar day from the date your citation was written unless that date falls on a weekend or one of the holidays observed by the Traffic Violation Bureau. If the compliance date falls on a weekend or holiday, the compliance date is the next business day. Do NOT include the date that the citation was written when counting the days.
In the situation depicted below, the citation was written on the 5th of the month and the 45th day from the date the citation was issued falls on a Sunday. Normally, the compliance date would be the following Monday but since, in this case, the following Monday is a holiday, the compliance date is Tuesday.
School/Not Guilty Deadline
If you have chosen to apply to Traffic School on a moving violation or request a court date, your deadline for applying for school or requesting a court date is thirty (30) days from your issuance date. As shown on the calendar above, the 30th day from the issuance date falls on a Saturday so the deadline would be the following Monday.
