Biosolids Management and Odor Control Project
Welcome to the Biosolids Management and Odor Control Project pages. Here you will learn about planned improvements to the Central and Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plants that will make Metro Water Services a better neighbor, improve the way we deliver services and allow us to be better stewards of the environment. The improvements represent a wise investment of available financial resources to lower operating costs and achieve a more efficient waste handling system.
Biosolids Management Project
The biosolids management project will include upgrades at two plant sites. The equipment used to thicken and dewater the solids at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant is at the end of its useful life and will be replaced. The project will add new anaerobic digestion and heat drying facilities to create Class A biosolid pellets which can be reused as a fertilizer. The biosolids project will add anaerobic digestion to the Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, but will not include other work since the remaining facilities are in good shape. See the biosolids process. Construction is now underway. View the construction hours, truck routes and other information on the biosolids and odor control construction at Central.
Odor Control Project
The odor control project will capture and treat all odor sources that would otherwise leave the Central and Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant sites. Treatment for the collected odors will be provided by biofilters. See the biofilter process. Construction is underway.
